Tips for Owning an eNVy

Whether you're still contemplating or you've already upped your game by purchasing an NV4, we have some helpful tips for driving and maintaining an eNVy

1. You CAN leave it plugged in.

There’s no need to stress about how long past a full charge you can leave the eNVy plugged up. You will not damage the batteries at all. If you are going to be away from it for an extended time, then yes—unplug it just as you would anything else. But a general rule of thumb is you CAN leave it plugged in.

2. Only use distilled water when refilling the batteries.

This will not only allow your batteries to charge and perform better, but they will also last longer.

3. Remember there is an app to monitor the charging status of your phone.

4. Know the issues surrounding street legal vehicles

The eNVy is considered a Personal Transport Vehicle (PTV), meaning it falls in between a golf cart and a Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV) because it has a maximum speed of 20 mph and is not equipped with LSV-required features like automotive safety windshield glass, wipers, three-point safety belts, and on-road tires. Municipalities have varying rules and regulations, so we recommend reaching out to your local DMV and/or city government to find out if the eNVy is street legal in your area.

5. In order to maximize the lifespan of your batteries, follow these tips:

  • Before first use, fully charge the batteries. Note that the batteries will not perform to their fullest capacity until they have been discharged up to 50% and recharged 20-30 times.
  • Fully recharge the batteries daily or after each use of the vehicle.
  • Never discharge the batteries more than 80% of their capacity. Deeply discharging the batteries will shorten their lifespan. Discharged batteries can freeze in freezing temperatures. Do not use, charge, or load test a frozen battery as it could explode.
  • Keep batteries fully charged when not in use.

  • Do not charge batteries at temperatures of 110° F or higher.

  • If the electrolyte level is low, add distilled water up to a maximum of a quarter inch below the bottom of the vent wells. Do not overfill. Adding too much electrolyte may cause a boil-over during charging. A quarter inch over the plates is sufficient.

6. For any questions or issues you may have, contact your eNVy dealer

You cannot order parts directly from the manufacturer as all parts are only available from an authorized dealer.

7. Remember that the eNVy comes with many standard features.

These include an automatic parking brake, a watering kit to ensure proper battery water levels are maintained correctly, and adjustable seating. Remember that the rear seats fold flat for an easy-to-use cargo bed—perfect for jobs around the house and hauling light loads.

Congrats on your purchase of the eNVy, and if you're still considering, there's no time like the present! Check out our current promotions and then give your local dealer a call to set up a test drive.
